Training Programs

A variety of excellent training programs offered at the state and local level have often made the critical difference in a company's relocation decision or ability to increase productivity.

Governor's Training Initiative

At the post-secondary level, the Governor's Training Initiative (GTI) is a training grant program for any business, of any size, which partially reimburses training costs after the training has been completed. Grant sizes to date have ranged from $3,000 to $182,000.

York County Community College

York County Community College offers extensive resources and experience in developing customized training and education for companies of all sizes. YCCC also administers and coordinates the Maine Quality Center Program, which provides customized training and education at no cost to those employers who agree to hire a minimum of 8 new employees.

Biddeford Regional Center of Technology

At the secondary level, the Biddeford Regional Center of Technology offers a range of programs including pre-apprenticeships in such fields as machine trades, welding/metal fabrication, computers, drafting, and business training.
