Producers are the keystone of public access television.  Producers bring diverse view points, a local perspective, and as a group are responsible for the range of programs that appear on local public access television.

In order to encourage local participation, Biddeford Public Access will provide free training and technical assistance in the use of cable TV production equipment, access to production resources, and cablecast time on the public access channel(s). These sources are available for the production and presentation of local programming and programs of local interest to the Biddeford community for non-commercial purposes.

Residents of Biddeford as well as non-profit and non-commercial organizations and institutions located within the city and those affiliated with such organizations are welcomed and encouraged to use these resources and may request channel time for the presentation of live and/or pre-recorded cable television programming.  There are a few requirements that must be adhered to when producing a show.  These are spelled out in the "City of Biddeford Public Access Producer's Manual".  The requirements are in place to protect equipment, comply with broadcast rules and Chapter 2, Article VI of Biddeford's Code of Ordinances.

In order to gain access to the production resources and training, a person must:

  1. show proof of Biddeford residency or affiliation with an eligible organization based
    in or serving Biddeford;
  2. complete a training program or demonstrate competency in proper operation of
    equipment, to the satisfaction of Public Access staff;
  3. sign an agreement acknowledging the established procedures/protocols.

If interested in producing a show, please complete the New Producer Registration Form.  The form is available online by following the link in the upper right corner of this page or by download in Forms CentralOnce received, the form will be reviewed and you will be contacted to discuss the next steps.

Biddeford Public Access is planning to offer a "Producer 101 Workshop" in September 2016.  The class will be free to Biddeford residents and offered at various times to accommodate most everyone.  The worksop will provide the fundamentals needed to produce a public access show.  If you would like to receive information about the workshop, including when registration opens, please complete the online Producer 101 Notification Request Form.  Once signed-up you will receive email updates as they become available.
