An Affordable Coastal Community

Despite escalated housing costs in recent years, Biddeford remains among the most affordable in Southern Maine's coastal communities. Prices average about 10% to 20% lower than the cost of comparable housing in the Greater Portland area. 

  • Existing homes in downtown neighborhoods can be purchased for about $200,000. 
  • Homes in new subdivisions start at about $300,000. 
  • Some new subdivisions in the city offer lots that can accommodate homes in the $300,000 to $600,000 price range. 
  • Waterfront homes along the Saco River or in any of the City's coastal neighborhoods are priced anywhere from $600,000 to $6,000,000.

Rentals

In terms of rental housing, Biddeford has a mix of rentals with two bedroom units ranging generally between $900 to $2,000 per month, depending on location, condition and amenities.
