The Maine Forest Service is pleased to offer citizens the option to obtain open burning permits online! Through this easy online process you will be able to obtain an open burning permit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing permits are being issued at the time. This system is for brush piles, wood debris and agricultural burns only.
Online permits are only valid for the immediate 24 hours after they are issued, as the daily fire danger rating could change. Burning permits cannot be issued for a future date. The online service is quick and easy, and you will be able to print your permit at the end of the process.
Notice: Online burn permits are only valid on Class 1 or 2 days. The person requesting the permit must verify the class day with a forest fire danger report after 9 a.m. on the day they desire to burn.
What are the Service Fees?
As of October 17, 2021, there is no fee to obtain an open burning permit online.
