Lower Main Street Paving Project
Project Update (October 12, 2021)
Preparation work was delayed from the original start date of October 7. It will now begin on Wednesday, October 13 and will take place during daytime hours.
Grinding of pavement will take place beginning on Monday, October 18, and will be followed by repavement of the road. The project is set to be complete during the week of October 25.
Please expect delays as a paving project on lower Main Street in Biddeford on October 13, 2021. All construction will take place on Main Street between Alfred Street and Hill Street during daytime hours.
Paving preparation work will begin on Main Street from October 13, 2021 to October 15, 2021 and will include lowering and raising of manholes and Maine Water preparation work. Paving will begin on October 18 and will be completed during the week of October 25.
When construction work is in progress, Elm Street traffic traveling down Main Street towards Saco will be detoured up Alfred Street to Pool Street to go to Saco. Drivers coming from Saco will be allowed to go up Main Street as it will be open to one-way traffic up Main Street. Water Street and Hill Street will remain fully accessible during this project.
Traffic and Parking
One-lane traffic up Main Street will be allowed through the area during work hours. Flaggers will be on site to assist with the direction of traffic. We also plan to have a staff member available on site each day to help customers navigate the construction area safely.
In order to retain as much parking in the area as possible, parking will only prohibited along the section of the road that is actively under construction. A limited number of fifteen-minute customer parking spaces for curbside pick-up services will also be available within the construction area and will be marked with new signage.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call Jeff Demers at the Biddeford Public Works Department at 207-282-1579.
