Election Workers
The City of Biddeford is seeking residents to work as paid Election Workers for November 7, 2023. Election Clerks check in registered voters, hand out ballots and are involved with the closing process at the end of the day. They must be a US Citizen, at least 18 years of age, and a registered voter in Biddeford.
Election workers cannot be a candidate for office or a member of a candidate’s immediate family.
Election Wardens and Ward Clerks
Election Wardens and Ward Clerks are elected positions, one of each for each of the 7 wards, that will be decided at the November 7, 2023 Election. Nomination papers are available now and require 20 valid signatures. Papers are due back on September 5. Candidates must be a US Citizen, be at least 18 years old, and a registered voter in Biddeford. They may not be an officer of a municipal committee of a party.
Election Wardens are an important part of Election Day. They are responsible for the overall operation of the polling place. They attend the polls, maintain order at the voting place, enforce election laws, supervise election officials and perform other duties at the polls.
Ward Clerks are responsible for assisting the Warden with the overall operation of the polling place.
